Scotts Valley School District should help kids at any age through high school to learn how to start and run a business. This includes making the product, advertising, accounting and trying to make a profit. This does not need to stop with those points. If someone wanted to post signs, researching the laws regarding signs, locations, size, etc. are also required. Students should document their entire project from start to finish showing if they made a profit, or a loss. Failure is not a bad thing. Learning what did not work, and think of ideas to improve their business. Advertising locations? Better lemonade or similiar (stawberry lemonade, etc.). These are challenges for students to learn to budget, spend within their means and build their business. They can create teams of other students they want to work together with. Business owners, teachers, and volunteers can be involved in a couple meetings so students can ask questions for guidance. I believe this would be one great learning experience. The kids would look forward to each year, and so will the community. Monies collected will stay with each team. They deserve it.
